Celebrating its 35th year, Flickerfest, Australia’s only Oscar® and BAFTA qualifying short film festival, and the country’s largest Australian & International short film competition, screens the best of shorts from Australia and the world, selected from over 3,700 entries; ensuring the presentation of A-list short film programmes recognised amongst the best in the world.

Flickerfest screens for 10 days under the summer stars at Bondi Beach in January, with selected highlights of the most entertaining and innovative short films touring the country on a 40+ venue national tour.

Flickerfest returns with this annual one-off chance for Newcastle audiences to see the Best of Australian Shorts & Shorts Laughs Comedy programmes of award winners and festival favourites officially selected for the Flickerfest National Tour. The Best of Australian Shorts programme will also highlight three short films with Newcastle connections fresh from Bondi with filmmakers present to introduce their films.
