ABOUT WHEELER PLACE

Wheeler Place links the cultural and entertainment facilities of the Honeysuckle development with the civic facilities of Civic Park, Art Gallery, Library and Conservatorium of Music. The connection of the site to Civic Park is strengthened by the maintenance of the visual and physical axis along the present Burwood Street to the trees of Civic Park and the spire of St Andrews.

In the east - west direction, Wheeler Place joins the Civic Theatre and the civic, ceremonial, convention and function services of the City Hall.

Wheeler Place comprises three discreet areas:

  • South Wheeler Place (area between City Hall and City Administration Centre)
  • Undercroft (area adjacent to Fred Ash entrance)
  • North Wheeler Place (area bounded by Civic Theatre, Bennett Building and Hunter Street)
