OUR ROOMS IN CIVIC THEATRE

The Civic Theatre is one of Newcastle’s most popular and prestigious venues. The grandeur of the art deco surrounds with the marble staircase, terrazzo balcony and main auditorium chandelier, makes for a stunning and unforgettable experience.

MAIN AUDITORIUM

The 1520 seat main auditorium combines the grandeur of yesteryear with the comfort of today.  The lower level STALLS seats 897 whilst the upper level DRESS CIRCLE seats 623.

PROMENADE ROOM
Originally the Ladies Boudoir, the Promenade Room is today used extensively for meetings, social functions and pre-show gatherings. Adjoining the Balcony overlooking Wheeler Place this space is ideal for approx 80 people cocktail-style.

BOARDROOM
Originally the Gentleman’s Smoking Room, the Boardroom is today used for a wide range of meetings and private dinners. The magnificent boardroom table seats up to sixteen people.

COMMONWEALTH PROMENADE
The grandeur of the Promenade Foyer will take your breath away. It is used regularly for cocktail parties, welcome receptions, launches and even the occasional wedding. Combined with the adjacent Promenade Room and Balcony this space can cater for up 300 people cocktail style or 120 seated banquet style.

STALLS FOYER  & ENTRANCE FOYER
The stalls foyer is the entrance to the Civic Theatre and is the main foyer area. The space is enhanced by two huge period artworks of Newcastle by Henry Gallop contributing significantly to the art deco ambience. The stalls foyer is a flexible function space for up to 120 people banquet-style or 400 cocktail-style.

LOUNGE BAR
The lounge bar is regularly used for daytime meetings and social functions. The décor in this space is an outstanding architectural blend of the new and the old with capacity for up to 50 people theatre-style, 60 cocktail-style and 30 banquet-style.
