Much Ado About Nothing - Bell Shakespeare

Claudio and Hero are deeply in love. Beatrice and Benedick would rather swap sassy insults than sweet nothings.

Much Ado About Nothing is a saucy and razor-sharp battle of wits between the bickering Beatrice and Benedick, who wield words as weapons, their banter betraying their love and loathing of each other.
However Claudio is quickly seduced by envy and this idyllic world threatens to come tumbling down as he humiliates Hero. Beatrice and Benedick must join forces to defend true love – even if they can’t recognise it in themselves.
Directed by Bell Shakespeare’s Associate Director, James Evans (Julius Caesar) and starring Zindzi Okenyo (Antony and Cleopatra, MTC’s An Ideal Husband) as Beatrice, this Much Ado About Nothing will be a powerful exploration of the struggle for identity and self-knowledge in a male-dominated world.
Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s contemporary comedies where romance is thwarted by dastardly plots, misinformation, false accusations, broken promises, and bumbling cops. Or is it?

Goori Dooki - Ngarrama Productions

Pops sometimes forgets – a pot on the stove, getting his grandson to school, his medicine – and his language and the songs from his youth.

With the help of a childhood companion in the form of the Goori Dooki bird (Gurri Thurrigi) both Pops and his grandson rediscover lost memories, songs and language - in the process remembering who they are and their responsibilities to their culture.

Goori Dooki is an exciting performance for young and old that reimagines Aboriginal language and culture in a contemporary storytelling performance about memory and identity.

This performance incorporates a range of Aboriginal songs in language from across the eastern seaboard of NSW, dance and animations.

Each performance is followed by a short language workshop suitable for all ages.
School support material is available for pre and post performance classroom work.

Running Time: 65mins (no interval)
